The start of 2023 has been very exciting for me. January 2023 saw the launch of my capsule collection ‘100 patterns in 100 days’ by Christian Fischbacher in Paris at Paris Deco Off.
I am absolutely thrilled to have been invited to collaborate with the wonderful textile company Christian Fischbacher on this Capsule Collection.
My long time friends Camilla & Micki Fischbacher who, after viewing the 100 patterns that I painted in 100 Days during lockdown in Italy in 2020, invited me to collaborate on this capsule collection.
I was all the more excited when I saw all the finished printed fabrics. 4 designs; 'Poppy’, 'Blossom’, 'Pink Weed’, & 'Ikan’.
My tiger paintings were transformed into the wonderful ‘Dawon’ tiger fabric in all its embroidered glory. It is available in 3 colour ways.
I am absolutely thrilled with the amazing hand knotted woollen carpet ‘Harimau’.
‘Pink Weed’, ‘Blossom’ & ‘Poppy’ were chosen from my 100 patterns while ‘Ikan’ was taken from my painting I had hanging in my house when Camilla & Micki came to see me. The ‘Dawon’ fabric came about by the merging together of two of my original tiger paintings, also in my house, while the ‘Harimau’ carpet is directly from a painting I did especially for this project.
The prints are digitally printed onto the most wonderful cotton for drapery & upholstry. The fabric ‘Dawon’ has been embroidered using two different methods, digital embroidery & hand embroidered crewel work, on a linen base.
‘Harimau’ is a fully hand knotted woollen carpet using the Tibetan knot. It is Christian Fischbacher’s first hand knotted carpet.
100 Patterns in 100 Days by Rebecca Duckett-Wilkinson
Christian Fischbacher writes on their website….
“The collection ‘100 Patterns in 100 Days’ brings to life a snapshot of 100 designs conceived by the Malaysian artist Rebecca Duckett-Wilkinson in the Spring of 2020. Caught off guard by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Duckett-Wilkinson spent several months in isolation in her countryside home in Piedmont, Italy. In this extraordinary situation, she set herself the creative goal of painting 100 patterns in 100 days. Expressive works of art emerged inspired by her daily walks in the surrounding area capturing dream-like landscapes, the opulent colourfulness of seasonal change and the richness in detail of nature. From memory, Duckett-Wilkinson also painted symbolic motifs, including a Malayan tiger which features as one of the main designs in the capsule collection. Together with long-time friend Creative Director Camilla D. Fischbacher, Duckett-Wilkinson has translated her poignant library of patterns into textile form. An inspiring story of creativity in a time of turmoil, Duckett-Wilkinson’s detailed floral patterns, fantastical motifs and imaginative worlds of colour add a flourish of artistic and highly original design to any interior.
